In the universe of Promethea, there exist many gods. Among them are the gods referred to as the avatars of life and death. Daksari, god of life, and Cadaver, god of death.
Daksari and Cadaver are the parents of all other gods. In the relevant story of Promethea exist two children. Cinder, child of Daksari, and the unnamed Rainbow Beast, child of Cadaver. Cinder is the creator of Cassandra and the humans that inhabit it. Creating sapient mortals is permitted, but interacting with them is strictly prohibited as per Daksari. Knowing this, Cinder disregarded it and gave humans the gift of knowledge of the gods.
Cassandra's gods
Cadaver, known to Prometheans as the god of death, is one of two eternal gods. Aspects of him can be killed or destroyed, but unlike Cinder and the Rainbow beast, he cannot be permanently or completely destroyed. In some form, Cadaver has always and will always exist. He is one of the patron gods of Promethea, worshipped by nomadic clans in the north. Cadaver is the Rainbow Beast's father and creator. Sometime after the imprisonment of Cinder, this aspect of Cadaver mysteriously died.
Aspect of Cadaver
Daksari, known to Prometheans as the god of life, is the other of the two eternal gods. Aspects of her can be killed or destroyed, but unlike Cinder and the Rainbow beast, she cannot be permanently or completely destroyed. In some form, Daksari has always and will always exist. Daksari is Cinder's mother and creator, and the one responsible for her imprisonment.
Aspect of Daksari
Cinder is the creator of Ouranos, the gas giant that Cassandra orbits, and the humans of Cassandra. She is the child of Daksari. After breaking Daksari's law by giving mortal beings knowledge of the gods and magic, she was imprisoned deep inside of the moon. One of the very few gods that has died by mortal hand.
Cinder
The universe is vast, and within it are countless roaming gods. The Rainbow Beast was one of these roaming gods. Thousands of years after Cinder's imprisonment, it happened across Cassandra and had a single demigod child. Soon thereafter, it was hunted down by Daksari and killed for it's crime, leaving the child with it's human parent.
i legitimately just havent drawn this thing other than the image above
Half mortal and strictly outlawed children of gods. Demigods are able to be killed by mortals and lack the true creation abilities held by gods. Unlike true gods, who are created fully formed and intelligent, demigods are born much like mortal beings. Without guidance from a mentor or parent, demigods grow into destructive feral beasts. Any demigod found is either killed or imprisoned by Daksari.
Demigod child of the Rainbow Beast. After the death of his godly parent, he was imprisoned by Daksari.
"i love all my characters equally" *earlier* "i dont care for the demiking"
Occasionally, intelligent mortal beings evolve without the hand of a god. Other times, a created species god will die or abandon their creation. Without the protection of a god, spirits will grow like mold in the cracks of these societies. Not every spirit is malignant, but mortal beings lack the capability to rid themselves of them without a god to help them.
Xolakaal is a spirit living within Promethea. Without Cinder, and without an aspect of Cadaver, humans were left vulnerable. This spirit feeds on dead humans and attaches itself to hosts, forcing them into its will.
